Monday, June 14th, 1926: Zeman on Fire, Named Player of the Week
The 33-year-old Riva Rage second baseman might not have the spring he had in his step years ago, but the "old man" can still play the game. Ernie Zeman has been a reliable ballplayer, one who has worked hard to earn everything he's achieved and today he sits on top of the heap as he was named the Northern League Player of the Week.

He went 13-26 to racked up a .500 average with 2 home runs and 7 runs batted in this past week. Zeman also scored 6 runs.

In his stats this season, Zeman has posted a batting average of .328 with 62 hits in 189 at-bats, 7 home runs and 41 RBIs. He has also scored 27 runs, walked 20 times and compiled a .389 OBP.

Monday, June 7th, 1926: Culp 5-6 Against Rage
After the Soni 4-2 victory over Riva and his 5-hit day center fielder Paul Culp told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."

The 23-year-old player gained that distinction today at Sting Ray Field with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Riva Rage.

The skipper of the Sting Rays spoke glowingly of Culp, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Paul did that to perfection today."

P. Culp singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Currently Culp has 3 home runs and a .323 batting average.

Monday, June 7th, 1926: Bad News for Rage, Slade Injured
Larry Slade of the Riva Rage could be headed for the disabled list after suffering a torn back muscle in a game against the Soni Sting Rays. He is expected to miss at least 7 months. The Riva reliever was injured throwing a pitch. Slade said, "Right now I am pretty sore and I don't feel very good at all."

This season Slade has made 20 relief appearances, pitched 28 innings and struck out 15 with a record of 1 win and 1 loss. He has compiled a 3.21 ERA and saved 0 games.
