First-year players are drafted today in Baseball Academies Assn. while front offices buzz with anticipation and opinion from GM to receptionist. The initial picks go to ADI, Tempura Academy, Salara Academy, Minos Academy and Mist Tech, and the favorites to be selected, according to the SION reports, are ranked as follows:
1. Oakie Roof, 18 year-old third baseman out of high-school.
2. Hoddy Wiggins, 18 year-old third baseman out of college.
3. Edward Manahan, 18 year-old catcher out of college.
4. Gerald Taylor, 18 year-old second baseman out of high-school.
5. Gerard Eaddy, 18 year-old shortstop out of high-school.
6. Rusty Simmons, 18 year-old right fielder out of high-school.
7. Domingo Davis, 18 year-old shortstop out of college.
8. Kenneth Osterman, 18 year-old center fielder out of high-school.
9. Tom Denning, 18 year-old center fielder out of high-school.
10. Gile Kelsch, 18 year-old right fielder out of college. |
 | Monday, June 14th, 1926: Super Week for Firun Academy's Hodge!
The Southern Conference made it official today: Sid Hodge is the Player of the Week.
He really sparkled on the diamond this week with a .600 average to take home the trophy. The Firun Academy first baseman went 12-20, drove in 4 runs, scored 5 times and hit 1 home run.
This season Hodge is batting at a .323 clip with 1 home run and 19 RBIs. |
 | Monday, June 14th, 1926: Minos Academy First Baseman Picked NC Player of the Week
Minos Academy fans had a lot to cheer about this week as first baseman Catcher Macsorley brought home the Northern Conference Player of the Week trophy.
During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .667 batting average, 10 hits and 3 home runs. Macsorley also racked up 8 RBIs and scored 6 runs.
So far this season Macsorley is hitting .434 with 4 home runs, 53 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has 72 hits in 166 at-bats and a .461 OBP. |
