Scrutiny begins early in the life of an amateur baseball player. Very likely it started while he was in high school. Scouts have traveled many miles to come up with a portfolio of players who have the potential to play in Independent Laseron League. It all comes to fruition on rookie draft day. It's a crapshoot. Poberia, Tempura, Salara, Dilgrane and Seafaros will have the first five cracks at hitting the jackpot this year. According to most baseball analysts, these 10 draftees are most likely to be chosen in the early rounds:
1. John Peterson, 18 year-old right fielder out of high-school.
2. Teakettle Trimble, 18 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
3. Ken Burton, 18 year-old reliever out of high-school.
4. Gary Alfred, 18 year-old second baseman out of high-school.
5. Damien Clements, 18 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
6. Brad Goulet, 18 year-old center fielder out of high-school.
7. Derek King, 18 year-old third baseman out of high-school.
8. Matt Green, 18 year-old catcher out of college.
9. Vern King, 18 year-old catcher out of college.
10. Mack Buffington, 18 year-old catcher out of college. |

Bill Cranston is respected by most Salara Dirtbags fans for his no-frills style of play. The 27-year-old first baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Laseron Independents Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .414 average (12-29) with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

The Dilgrane Blasts may have to play on without standout reliever Ronnie Capel for at least 2 weeks after he suffered a strained back muscle in a game against the Salara Dirtbags. The team has him listed as day-to-day.
