Scouts, coaches, managers, and GMs all huddle together today to review the amateur draft and make decisions to fill their current and future needs. The 1926 Laseron Baseball Association candidates will be evaluated even more selectively now that judgment day has fallen on previous scouting reports. Each team will review its initial assessments and compare them to SION's conventional, conservative, and often unpredictable top ten rankings:
1. Joldy Merwin, 17 year-old reliever out of college.
2. Kendrick Countryman, 17 year-old catcher out of college.
3. Hung Caviness, 17 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school.
4. Thornton Wright, 17 year-old right fielder out of college.
5. Lyle Capps, 18 year-old left fielder out of college.
6. Bill Manor, 18 year-old second baseman out of college.
7. Samson Wille, 17 year-old right fielder out of college.
8. Jocko Cornish, 18 year-old second baseman out of college.
9. Whitey Rademacher, 17 year-old closer out of college.
10. Charles Davies, 17 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
The draft unfolds with the first five picks given to Mist, Summerwind, Kron'nul, Broncdom and Crystalis. |
 | Monday, June 14th, 1926: James Hayes to Miss 1-2 Weeks
"I'm frustrated right now," said Laserus starting pitcher James Hayes. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Destroyers, that's where he will be spending the next 1-2 weeks. Hayes suffered a tender shoulder in today's game against Riva while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
This year Hayes has posted a 8-5 mark in 16 starts and has a 3.61 ERA. |
 | Monday, June 14th, 1926: Week's Top Player - Firun City's Floor
Jimmy Floor went on a week-long batting spree against Southern League pitchers and hauled in the Player of the Week trophy.
The Firun City first baseman battered the opposition for 12 hits in 27 at-bats, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 4 runs. He hit .444 and posted a .500 on-base percentage.
In 1926 Floor has hit at a .303 clip with 80 hits, 15 home runs, 53 RBIs and has scored 42 times. |
